Nose Types

Could Nose Types Reveal Our Personalities?

There are many different nose types in the world. In fact, there are so many that it has become difficult to separate the varieties into their own category. There are, however, certain details which can be used to create a compact list of the different types of noses based on the type of "bridge", curvature and width of the tip, and the overall size.  We are going to take a brief look at the different nose types as condensed into this basic categorization. We will also see what the shape and length of each nose has to say about a person's character.

Let's start off with the Straight nose. This type of nose is often referred to as a Greek nose because people from that area of the world tend to have a straight nose. The shape of this nose is just as it sounds--straight! The bridge does not contain any humps or bumps and the tip of the nose does not curve in or out. Those who have a (natural) straight nose are thought to be very efficient and organized. They are not easily susceptible to panic and often have a plan of action at the ready when crisis strikes. People with a straight nose are also thought to be very clever.

The Aquiline nose, or the Roman nose as it is often referred to, is a commonly-seen nose today. Maybe it has to do with the history of conquering the Romans are so well known for...? This type of nose is quite strong in appearance. In fact, if you could imagine a bodybuilder's nose reflecting his muscular physique, this would be the nose for the job! The bridge of the nose is slightly wide and often carries the same width down to the tip, where it curves in ever so slightly. A person with an aquiline nose is thought to be a very decisive person. They always think before they act and usually are able to make others see their way of thinking without coming across as aggressive in nature.

The next nose on our list is called the Nubian nose. As one might guess, this nose type gets its name from the Nubian people of Sudan. This style of nose starts out quite narrow near the forehead but broadens considerably as it goes downward. The nostrils typically flare outward and the overall length of this nose is on the medium to long side. It is thought that people who carry a Nubian nose are the creative type. Dreaming up new ideas and thinking outside of the box are key characteristics of someone with a Nubian nose. It also is thought to signify one who can act on impulse in the heat of passion.

Next up is the hawk nose, which isn't altogether popular. This nose style gets its name from the distinctive inward curvature of the tip of the nose. This type of nose is quite slender but the overall curvature looks similar to the shape of a bow. The tip of this nose style has a sharp hook-like curve that is very similar to the beak of a hawk--hence the name of this type of nose. People with this type of nose are considered to be impulsive and defiant of the mainstream. They are content with finding their own style and way in the world without giving a care for what others may think. They can be headstrong when pursuing their goals but often finish what they set out to achieve.

The turn-up nose is, like the hawk nose, another easy-to-spot nose type. These noses are generally on the shorter side and are considered to be "cute" because of their slightly upturned tip. They often run narrowly from the eyes to the tip. This particular nose type is thought to indicate a supportive and kind nature. One who is enthusiastic and up for exploration but also who has a special appreciation for home and family.

Although it's difficult for each of us to find just the right category for our nose, we have to bear in mind that this list of nose types is very basic. It may be possible to sport a combination of nose types, but isn't it fun to think of the possible personality traits our nose could reveal about us?
